State Duma Chairman: Brest Fortress, Pavlov’s House in Stalingrad held the line and fought fascists longer than most of Europe

The Russian State Duma Chairman noted that during the first months of the Great Patriotic War, defenders of Brest Fortress continued to fight even when fully surrounded. “They had no water, no ammunition, yet they stood their ground to the very death,” Vyacheslav Volodin Volodin Vyacheslav Victorovich Volodin

“And if we look at most European countries, how did they defend themselves, their people, their Motherlands? Some held out for only a couple hours before bowing to the fascists, others lasted several days. Brest Fortress alone withstood longer than most of Europe,” he said. 

The Chairman also praised the heroism of the Soviet soldiers who defended Pavlov’s House in Stalingrad while fully surrounded and withstood relentless fascist attacks unlike many European nations.
