On behalf of President of Russia, Vyacheslav Volodin took part in the opening ceremony of the Memorial Complex and Museum of Military Deeds of Heroes of the Foreign Military Operation

The opening ceremony of the Memorial Complex and the Museum of the Military Deeds of the Heroes of the Foreign Military Operation was held in Pyongyang. The Complex is dedicated to the heroic deeds of the soldiers of the Korean People’s Army who fought together with the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation and liberated the Kursk region from neo-Nazi invaders.

The leader of the DPRK Kim Jong-un opened the ceremony. “The armies of the DPRK and Russia, true to the ideals of justice, fought shoulder to shoulder in the same trench in the name of peace and sovereignty and achieved military successes that were significant and managed to prevent the revival of fascism and the military ambitions of hegemonic forces,” he emphasized.

The leader of the DPRK expressed his deep appreciation to the delegation of the Russian Federation for participating in the ceremony “with a sense of reverent memory of the true duty of the people of a fraternal country”.

The Chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Voldoin read out the message of the President of Russia Vladimir Putin.

“The Russian-Korean military brotherhood has a glorious history. In the final stages of World War II, Soviet troops, together with Korean patriots, liberated your country from Japanese colonial rule. Then, in the 1950s, they helped defend the independence of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea against foreign intervention. And now, with part of the Kursk Region under enemy occupation, Pyongyang has, in turn, come to our aid resolutely and without hesitation,” emphasizes the text of the message of the President of Russia.

“Fighting shoulder to shoulder with their Russian brothers in arms, Korean soldiers and officers have shown exceptional courage and genuine selflessness, earning themselves undying glory. Their unparalleled feats will forever remain in the hearts of every Russian citizen. The memorial we solemnly unveil today is intended to honour the heroism of the Korean People’s Army service members and the sacrifices they made for our common victory. Above all, it will stand as a visible symbol of the friendship and unity between our nations.

I am confident that, through our joint efforts, we will continue to steadily strengthen the comprehensive strategic partnership between the Russian Federation and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea,” says the text of the message.

There is also a memorial cemetery on the territory of the Complex where were buried the fallen soldiers with full military honors. The Chairman of the State Duma and other participants of the ceremony paid tribute to their memory and laid wreathes at the monument. They also observed a moment of silence.

Vyacheslav Volodin and Kim Jong-un explored the exhibition of the newly opened museum and laid flowers at the memory wall.

The Chairman of the State Duma made an inscription in the Book of Honorary Guests.

“The Memorial Complex and the Museum of the Military Deeds of the Heroes of the Foreign Military Operation is a special symbol of Russia-Korea military brotherhood and true friendship between our peoples. Citizens of our country are grateful to the comrade Chairman of the DPRK State Affairs Kim Jong-un and the Korean People’s Army for all their assistance provided in liberation of the Kursk region from Ukrainian neo-Nazis and foreign mercenaries. Russian people will never forget the bravery of the Korean warriors who defended our Motherland as their own Motherland!” wrote the Chairman of the State Duma.

Later, there was held a concert to commemorate the memory of the heroes of the military actions. There were performed the patriotic songs about the glorious pages of the history of the DPRK and the courage of the two countries.

The comrade Kim Jong-un left a note in the Book of Honorary Guests:

“Even though the lives of fallen soldiers are covered with earth and soil they carried with them into battles, their spirits will live forever, along with the great honor they have protected.

The Memorial Museum of Military Deeds in the Foreign Military Operation is pedestal of glory to the proud sons, officers, and soldiers of this country.”
