The Council of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organization adopted a statement on the current escalation of the situation in the Middle East and around the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The document expresses deep concern about sharp escalation of tensions in the region caused by provocative actions of non-regional forces and aimed at destabilizing the situation around Iran.

The parliamentarians emphasized that such actions posed a serious threat to international peace and security. The statement notes the inadmissibility of using force and threats of force against sovereign states.

The CSTO PA Council called on all sides to exercise the utmost restraint and resume dialogue for peaceful settlement of the existing disagreements. The document expresses support to the Government and people of Iran.

“We consider it inadmissible to use force and urge to settle all the existing disagreements only in peaceful way by using dialogue, mutual respect and consideration of interests of all sides in strict accordance with the universally recognized principles and norms of the international law and the UN Charter,” says the text of the statement.
