held a meeting with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Vershinin who told the parliamentarians about the current international situation.

During the meeting, Sergey Vershinin called the Middle East and North Africa priorities of Russia’s foreign policy, and noted developing economic, trade, and military-technical cooperation. Prospects for cooperation in energy and tourism were also highlighted. The Deputy Minister also noted the well-established political cooperation, as Russian embassies are actively working in all countries, there are also planned a number of high-level meetings and visits, and the Russia-Arab Cooperation Forum has been postponed.

“Today we have discussed a wide range of issues related to the Russian Foreign Ministry's foreign policy activities in the Middle East and North Africa. The topic is extremely relevant. We have discussed political and economic cooperation between our countries. We also have discussed the influence of the United States of America on the international agenda and US President Trump's initiative to create a Board of Peace. In the current situation, Russia will defend its national interests by interacting with the countries of the Middle East and North Africa on the basis of equality, respect for the sovereignty and independence of states,” emphasized Adalby Shkhagoshev.

Conflict situations in the Middle East and Gaza and prospects for their settlement were also discussed during the meeting.

“Today, we have discussed and reviewed a broad range of issues of Russia's relations with the countries of the Middle East and North Africa, as well as with African countries, and noted the strengthening of economic and trade relations. This reflects our commitment to accelerated interaction with countries of the Global South, based on our commitment to sovereignty and non-interference in the internal affairs of states. It is crucial that the fight against neocolonialism has become a part of our agenda with countries of the Global South, the Middle East, and North Africa,” said Sergey Vershinin.

“In the current conditions of building a multipolar world, our traditionally friendly interaction with countries in Africa and the Middle East is of great importance. During our meeting, we have also discussed the Board of Peace which is of phenomenal interest on the international agenda. Despite the eccentricity of the invitation and the egocentricity of the Charter, today we have received detailed information from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
