The Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation of the eighth convocation. Elected in single mandate constituency № 163 (Saratov constituency - Saratov Oblast)
recalled that in 1990s the West endorsed our democracy, the State Duma did not have the same the powers, and there were only talks. “When our country began to get stronger, more authoritative, influential, when our sovereignty got stronger, and the parliament received more powers, they started saying the opposite,” he added.

“We should understand that Russia can exist only if it is strong. And all the praises and applauses of the West lead to big problems, the same that Ukraine has faced,” concluded Vyacheslav Volodin.

The Ukrainian politicians believed that all the promises of the Europeans would lead them to “never-never land”, but it turned out to be the road to hell, as noted the Chairman of the State Duma. “That is why the country must be sovereign, strong. People should make their own decisions about the future. We proceed from this and build our relations with other states on these principles and discuss it when we meet with our foreign colleagues,” added Vyacheslav Volodin.
