The Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation of the eighth convocation. Elected in single mandate constituency № 163 (Saratov constituency - Saratov Oblast)
sent the draft law on ratification of the Treaty
between the Russian Federation and the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela on Strategic
Partnership and Cooperation to the Committee on International Affairs.
The document was signed on May 7, 2025, following the negotiations of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin with the President of the Republic of Venezuela Nicolás Maduro. The Treaty enhances the interaction of the two states in political and economic areas, including, in energy, mineral exploitation, transport, communications, and on issues of security, countering terrorism and extremism.
According to the Chairman of the State Duma, the signed treaty “brings Russia-Venezuela relations to an entirely new level and covers all the main areas of bilateral cooperation”.
“It is important that the Treaty draws a special attention to the need for interaction between the legislative authorities, creation of conditions for exchange of legislative experience and law enforcement. For our part, we will continue to cooperate with our colleagues to implement the agreements reached at the level of heads of state,” added Vyacheslav Volodin.
“The State Duma will consider this draft law as a matter of priority. The Parliament of Venezuela has already ratified the Treaty,” noted the Chairman of the State Duma.
