The Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation of the eighth convocation. Elected in single mandate constituency № 163 (Saratov constituency - Saratov Oblast)
met with the Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of China Zhao Leji in Beijing.
“Russian President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin and President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping emphasize that Russia-China cooperation has reached the highest level in its history and it is a real comprehensive partnership and strategic cooperation entering a new era. In the modern world, this is an example of a dialogue that is built on the principles of openness and trust in all areas,” said Vyacheslav Volodin.
The Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress noted the high development dynamics in cooperation between the two countries under the strategic leadership of the heads of Russia and China. “Our political mutual trust is strengthening, strategic interaction is intensifying, and cooperation in various areas is systematically and effectively enhancing,” he said.
The Chairman of the State Duma and the Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress also opened the tenth meeting of the Inter-parliamentary Commission on Cooperation between the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation and the National People's Congress of China.
Vyacheslav Volodin emphasized that this format had proven its relevance and had become an important part in the development of bilateral relations. “Working as part of a high-level commission allows us to consider many issues that reflect the modern agenda,” added Vyacheslav Volodin. The agenda includes current issues for strengthening Russia-China cooperation, according to him.
“The heads of our states attach great personal importance to cooperation between legislative bodies. The National People's Congress of China is ready to implement together with the Federal Assembly important agreements reached between our leaders, unleash the full potential of the inter-parliamentary commission on cooperation, and steadily strengthen exchanges and interaction in the interests of a comprehensive partnership and strategic cooperation,” emphasized Zhao Leji.
One of the key issues of the Commission’s meeting is the protection of the historical truth about the results of World War II. This year, Russia and China mark two important dates — the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War and the 80th anniversary of the Victory of the Chinese people in the War of Resistance against Japan and the end of World War II, as recalled the Chairman of the State Duma.
“We started our visit with a visit to the museum, where we saw the common points of our history. We managed to go through its difficult periods because we stood together,” emphasized the Chairman of the State Duma. “This memory of joint feats, when we fought shoulder to shoulder against the invaders and did everything so that our countries are free, independent and can plan future, obliges us to continue to stay together, conduct a dialogue based on the principles of trust and respect,” he added.
“In the face of challenges and threats, the Russia-China comprehensive partnership and strategic cooperation only gets stronger. We understand that the main goal of illegal sanctions and trade wars is to hinder our development. The sanctions hit like boomerang those who imposed them,” stressed Vyacheslav Volodin.
Vyacheslav Volodin and the Russian parliamentary delegation are paying an official visit to the People’s Republic of China.
