August 15 is the national holiday in the DPRK – National Liberation Day
A ceremonial event on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of Korea's liberation from Japanese colonial rule was held in Pyongyang.
The Chairman of State Affairs of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea Kim Jong-un addressed the event participants.

The Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation of the eighth convocation. Elected in single mandate constituency № 163 (Saratov constituency - Saratov Oblast)
congratulated the leadership and people of Korea and read out the text of the message.
“80 years ago, units of the Red Army and forces of Korean patriots inflicted a crushing defeat on the Kwantung Army and put an end to Japanese colonial rule in Korea.
It is important that the bonds of military brotherhood, friendship and mutual assistance hardened by those war years still remain strong and reliable. This was fully proved by the heroic participation of Korean soldiers in the liberation of the territories of the Kursk region from the Ukrainian invaders. The Russian people will forever remember their courage and dedication.
I am convinced that the consistent implementation of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Treaty signed in 2024 in Pyongyang will contribute to the further strengthening of mutually beneficial Russia-Korea cooperation in all areas. By acting together, Russia and the DPRK will be able to continue to effectively protect their sovereignty and make a significant contribution to building a just multipolar world order,” the message says.
“The bonds of military friendship and fraternal unity between the Democratic People's Republic of Korea and the Russian Federation are growing stronger every day as they are based on the great spirit and dignity is more important than life, and the sovereignty of the state must be protected to the end at any cost. And these bonds will remain the same forever and will be unchangeable,” said the Chairman of the Standing Committee of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly Choe Ryong-hae.
A patriotic concert was held in Pyongyang as part of the holiday events. Korean musicians and artistic groups performed songs about Russia and the Great Victory in Russian, as well as the anthem of the Russian Federation. The audience enjoyed the show of skydivers who made figures of beautiful flowers in the sky.
In his speech, the Chairman of State Affairs of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea Kim Jong-un called for unwaveringly overcoming the challenges the country is facing for the sake of the well-being and prosperity of the state.
