The Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation of the eighth convocation. Elected in single mandate constituency № 163 (Saratov constituency - Saratov Oblast)
held a meeting with the General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee Tô Lâm. The meeting participants
discussed the development of inter-parliamentary cooperation between the two
states. The meeting was held in a warm and friendly atmosphere.
“We are very glad to welcome you at the State Duma, especially when we meet with all our friends and commemorate the history of our country, the history of our relations. War welcome,” Vyacheslav Volodin addressed Tô Lâm.
The Chairman of the State Duma expressed gratitude to him for his personal attention to the development of dialogue between the Russian Federation and Vietnam. “The contribution that you make to strengthening relations between our countries will create a good foundation that will help us develop our inter-parliamentary ties, find new formats of cooperation, do everything to strengthen the friendship between our countries,” he said. Vyacheslav Volodin noted that despite different political views, all factions of the State Duma have joint position and support the development of cooperation with Vietnam.
“We are convinced that the world should be multipolar and fair, so that each country can have an opportunity to build its future on the principles of independence. When we talk about the prospects for the development of a state, only a sovereign state can defend the rights and freedoms of its citizens,” added Vyacheslav Volodin.
“I am so glad to meet you. You are a good friend of the leadership and people of Vietnam,” said Tô Lâm to the Chairman of the State Duma.
Vietnam attaches great importance to the development of relations with Russia, according to the General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee. The Republic seeks to enhance the dialogue in all areas.
“This visit is very important, as it is taking place on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between our countries, as well as the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the victory over fascism, the 50th anniversary of the liberation of South Vietnam and the reunification of the country, promoting the establishment of peace and justice for humanity,” emphasized Tô Lâm.
According to him, this is also a great opportunity to “discuss and agree on specific measures to further enhance the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and Russia” in order to make the relations deeper, more effective and meaningful in both bilateral and multilateral formats for the benefit of the people of the two countries, as well as for the common peace and stability.
Tô Lâm called for increasing the effectiveness of inter-parliamentary cooperation so that legislators could contribute to achieving the goals of successful development of relations. The General Secretary also conveyed warm words of greetings and an invitation to visit Vietnam to Vyacheslav Volodin from the Chairman of the National Assembly of the Republic Trần Thanh Mẫn.
The Chairman of the State Duma thanked for the invitation.
The meeting participants also discussed legislative support for the sustainable development of relations and the growth of business, humanitarian and tourist exchanges between Russia and Vietnam.
