and students of the University of Mumbai. Issues related to the development of educational processes, the importance of interaction in this area, including strengthening
ties and increasing the economic potential of both countries, were discussed
during the meeting.

The quality of education has a huge impact on the achievement of national development goals by states, according to the Chairman of the State Duma. “If a country stops improving the level of education, the economic growth slows down. Therefore, when we talk about achievements, the basis, of course, should include improving the quality of education,” he said.
The Vice Chancellor of the University of Mumbai Ravindra Kulkarni supported Vyacheslav Volodin. “You mentioned the importance of maintaining high educational standards at the global level. And we, in turn, are doing everything possible in this area and hope for further cooperation with Russian universities,” he said.
The need for personnel who speak Russian and Hindi will only grow, especially taking into account the growing pace of development of bilateral relations, as notes Vyacheslav Volodin. He recalled that the trade volume between Russia and India reached 60 billion rubles in 2024.
“We need to reach the target of 100 billion dollars, as such task was set by the leaders of our states — Vladimir Putin and Narendra Modi. This means that our companies will work more actively. In this regard, we attach great importance to issues of studying languages both in India and in our country,” added Vyacheslav Volodin.
“The University of Mumbai has close ties with various universities around the world, including in the Russian Federation. A memorandum of understanding has already been signed with Moscow universities, and we have created joint educational programs. We hope that your visit will contribute to strengthening relations between universities in India and Russia,” said Ravindra Kulkarni.
The Chairman of the State Duma expressed gratitude to the university administration and the Russian language department for their contribution to the development of intercultural cooperation between Russia and India. According to him, knowledge of the language and the culture of the partner country help to build a more trusting dialogue between the countries.
During the visit, the Chairman and members of the State Duma also learned more the history of the University of Mumbai, visited the lecture halls and the university library.
