On Tuesday, July 9, the Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress Zhao Leji arrived in Moscow. The First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Ivan Melnikov welcomed him at the airport.

Zhao Leji pays an official visit to Russia at the invitation of the Chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin. He made such a proposal during the visit of the delegation of the State Duma to the People’s Republic of China, which was held on 21–23 November 2023.

Tonight there will be held an informal meeting of Zhao Leji and Vyacheslav Volodin. The Chairman of the State Duma plans to show his colleague the sights of Moscow.

On July 10, there will be held the bilateral meeting of Chairman of the State Duma and Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress and the 9th meeting of the Inter-parliamentary Commission on Cooperation between the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation and the National People's Congress of the People’s Republic of China. On 11–12 July, Zhao Leji will take part in the BRICS Parliamentary Forum, which will be held in St. Petersburg.
