The Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation of the eighth convocation. Elected in single mandate constituency № 163 (Saratov constituency - Saratov Oblast)
recalled
that over the past six months, delegations of the CSTO member states observed
the parliamentary elections in Belarus, Serbia, as well as the presidential
elections in the Russian Federation.
“The CSTO member states have all necessary conditions for holding democratic elections that fully reflect the will of the voters. All elections are held in strict compliance with national legislation,” emphasized Vyacheslav Volodin.
According to him, it is necessary for foreign observers to take this fact into account: “Our electoral legislation meets the needs of society and is based on the national legislation of our countries. This is a very important aspect: our [elections] are open, legitimate, and transparent.”
The Chairman of the State Duma recalled that, for example, in the USA, 70% of votes were sent by post service, “there is no control, and there is absolutely no observation of elections, because any observer can be arrested if he/she is just a few hundred meters away from a polling station.”
“And they try to teach our countries about democracy and how to hold elections. European states and Washington should learn from the experience of the CSTO member states, and in this regard we could help them by providing necessary recommendations on how to do this,” concluded Vyacheslav Volodin.
