The Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation of the eighth convocation. Elected in single mandate constituency № 163 (Saratov constituency - Saratov Oblast)
held a meeting with the Chairman of the Commission of National Security and Foreign Policy of the Islamic Consultative Assembly of the Islamic Republic of Iran Vahid Jalalzadeh.
Vahid Jalalzadeh conveyed to Vyacheslav Volodin a message from the Speaker of the Parliament of Iran Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf with calls for condemning the Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people and a request to provide additional support to the “oppressed people of Palestine,” including at the parliamentary level.
The Chairman of the State Duma emphasized that Russia and Iran “are interested in maintaining peace and stability in the Middle East. This is especially important in the context of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, and the USA should be blamed for the escalation,” he added.
“Washington is doing everything to create more tensions in different parts of the world. It is trying to maintain its hegemony that way. You and I know that the current situation in Ukraine is the fault of the USA. Today, there is a war in the Gaza Strip, children, women, and old people are being killed, we are convinced that Washington should be blamed for that. As the US authorities could have done everything to prevent the tragedy, but they did not lift a finger,” said Vyacheslav Volodin.
The Chairman of the State Duma noted the double standards used by the USA in the issues of providing support to Jews.
“In relation to Israel, Washington talks about protecting Jews, but in relation to the events in our country that took place the day before yesterday there were other actions. They used the special services and their henchmen in Ukraine to begin and promote pogroms against Jews. The US and Ukrainian special services are behind this. Just think about it: on the one hand, in the Middle East, in Israel, they protect Jews, and on the other hand, they do everything to ensure that the same Jews, but living in on the territory of other states, are discriminated. It is unacceptable. This is not only double standards, this is cynicism and cruelty,” emphasized Vyacheslav Volodin.
“These actions should be condemned. The US will ultimately punish itself. But today people are suffering from its policy. We must do everything to stop the tragedy and prevent it from extending. The USA should be held responsible for the current situation in the Middle East,” added Vyacheslav Volodin.
The Chairman of the State Duma said that on that day members of the State Duma would consider an appeal of the State Duma to the UN and national parliaments on the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip. “The indiscriminate attacks of Israel on the Gaza Strip lead to a huge number of casualties. Therefore, it is important for us that all parliaments around the world state a position on this issue. There are still more sound forces, and we see how the world is changing today to be more multipolar, and to create a just world order,” added Vyacheslav Volodin.
“We also believe that the USA is directly complicit in the current situation in the Gaza Strip. The world is developing, but Americans, it seems to me, are dragging behind. Because everyone understands that a multipolar world is emerging. But they still think that they are a superpower and the leader of a unipolar world,” said the Chairman of the Commission of National Security and Foreign Policy of the Parliament of Iran Vahid Jalalzadeh.
He thanked the leadership of the Russian Federation “for the effective measures that Russia takes at the Security Council, as well as Russia’s positive vote in support of the resolution that was adopted at the UN General Assembly.”
“I believe that history and freedom-loving nations will not forget the measures that we took together with you in that situation,” added the Chairman of the Commission of the Parliament of Iran.
Vyacheslav Volodin asked to convey an invitation to the Speaker of the Parliament of Iran to pay an official visit to Russia.
