The Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation of the eighth convocation. Elected in single mandate constituency № 163 (Saratov constituency - Saratov Oblast)
held a meeting with the President of the Chamber of Senators of the Plurinational Legislative Assembly of the Plurinational State of Bolivia Andrónico Rodríguez Ledezma on the sidelines of the First International Parliamentary Conference “Russia – Latin America”.
Vyacheslav Volodin emphasized that the meeting would give a new impetus to the further development of relations between the parliaments of Russia and Bolivia, and lay a good foundation for cooperation between the two states.
“We, for our part, will do everything to develop relations between our states,” said the Chairman of the State Duma.
“We support the Russian Federation, which has to resist the foreign forces trying to influence your country from the outside,” emphasized Andrónico Rodríguez Ledezma. According to him, Bolivia stands for a multipolar world and social justice.
According to the President of the Chamber of Senators of the Plurinational Legislative Assembly of Bolivia, “the main direction of our cooperation and work is sustainable development.” “With the assistance of the Russian Federation, Bolivia will achieve new successes,” he stressed.
Vyacheslav Volodin thanked his Bolivian colleagues for their support. “Bolivia did not support sanctions against Russia. Together at the UN and other international platforms, we stand for the creation of a multipolar world and a just world order, for the absence of hegemony. Only an independent, sovereign state can plan its future,” emphasized the Chairman of the State Duma.
He recalled that Russia was invariably guided by the principles of non-interference in the internal affairs of other states, respect and mutually beneficial cooperation.
“Every country and its people have their own values. And it is right to protect them,” said Vyacheslav Volodin.
Vyacheslav Volodin and Andrónico Rodríguez Ledezma also discussed issues of enhancing interaction at the level of friendship groups, cooperation in the fields of education, energy, trade and others.
On September 29 — October 2, the First International Parliamentary Conference
“Russia – Latin America” is being held in Moscow at the initiative of the State
Duma. More than 200 participants, including parliamentarians from different
countries of Latin America and the Caribbean Region, representatives of the expert community, public figures and diplomats are expected to take part in the Conference. They plan to discuss with their Russian colleagues relevant issues
of the international parliamentary agenda.
On Friday, September 29, the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin addressed the Conference participants.
The following round tables will be held as part of the events of the Conference:
- Equal and mutually beneficial economic cooperation: role of the parliaments
- Development of humanitarian ties between Russia and Latin America: contribution of the parliaments
- Just multipolar world: role of the parliamentary diplomacy
- Security for all: position of the parliaments
On October 2, the plenary session of the International Parliamentary Conference “Russia – Latin America” will be held at the State Duma (the Pillar Hall of the House of the Unions) on the topic “Cooperation for a just world for all”.
