The Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation of the eighth convocation. Elected in single mandate constituency № 163 (Saratov constituency - Saratov Oblast)
held a meeting with the President of the Central American Parliament (PARLACEN) Amado Cerrud Acevedo as part of the events of the First International Parliamentary Conference “Russia-Latin
America”.
Vyacheslav Volodin proposed to develop new formats of cooperation between the State Duma and the PARLACEN.
“I propose to prepare all the necessary documents for signing an agreement with the PARLACEN on observer status and creating a high-level commission. We can sign it on the sidelines of the Conference,” he said.
“Policy consists of actions and decisions. We should find new formats of cooperation to discuss issues of our citizens’ concern,” said the Chairman of the State Duma.
According to him, “it is necessary to develop parliamentary formats of cooperation, to do everything so that members of parliaments make their contribution to the development of relations between countries.”
“We are convinced that the parliamentary dimension has enormous potential for not only building a constant dialogue, but also finding solutions on many issues,” said the Chairman of the State Duma.
Russia stands for a multipolar world and a just world order and builds relations with other states on the principles of mutual respect, non-interference in the affairs of sovereign states and mutually beneficial cooperation, according to the Chairman of the State Duma.
The PARLACEN President Amado Cerrud Acevedo said that the First International Parliamentary Conference “Russia-Latin America” would provide great opportunities to develop dialogue.
The agreement on Russia's observer status at the PARLACEN would also help strengthen cooperation, as he added.
“We understand that Russia is committed to creating greater opportunities for the state in the world and building multipolarity at the geopolitical level,” emphasized Amado Cerrud Acevedo.
“There are two important vectors of development — Russia and China, that are committed to building multipolarity in the world, and that provides many opportunities for the Central American region,” he said.
