“That what Zelensky and his cronies did in the Canadian Parliament should be subject to criminal prosecution. And his foreign sponsors should initiate the criminal proceedings,” stressed Vyacheslav Volodin. “27 million people died during the Great Patriotic War, and today those who tortured, mocked, shot, are in the presidium and are paid respects. Therefore, we should not only strongly condemn such acts, but also demand to hold to account,” he added.
The document emphasizes that members of the State Duma “express extreme indignation and outrage at the cynical insult to the memory of the soldiers of the anti-Hitler coalition committed at the meeting of the House of Commons of Canada on September 22, 2023. The Canadian legislators welcomed in the Canadian Parliament a 98-year-old SS member, who served under the ruthless Third Reich during the Second World War in the Waffen-SS “Galicia” division.”
“The deputies of the State Duma consider this egregious event to be not an accident, but another step in the deliberate and calibrated strategy of Canada and the West as a whole to rewrite history to suit the political conjuncture. It has become quite obvious why Canada and a number of other Western countries, as well as Ukraine which has joined them, have not supported the anti-fascist resolutions of the UN General Assembly for a long time, which combat the glorification of Nazism and which are voted for by the vast majority of the countries,” the text of the document says.
Members of the State Duma stressed that the Canadian authorities grossly violated international law by trying to whitewash war criminals, sadists and murderers, in particular Ukrainian SS soldiers, who were responsible for the deaths of tens of thousands of Soviet, Polish, Slovak and other civilians. The Nuremberg Tribunal explicitly condemned their crimes, which are beyond the statute of limitations.
“Such actions aimed at glorifying Nazism in legislative bodies are also subject to judicial proceedings,” emphasized the parliamentarians.
