on his Telegram channel commented on the recent statement made by the President of Poland calling on Russia to make reparations for the damage caused
during World War II.
“The price paid by the Soviet people for the liberation of the world from Nazism was very high — 27 million dead. The modern state of Poland exists thanks to our country,” emphasized the Chairman of the State Duma.
Vyacheslav Volodin recalled that Poles, along with Russians, Ukrainians and Belarusians, were being exterminated in concentration camps, used for hard work, and in January 1945, residents of Warsaw met Soviet troops with flowers and tears in their eyes. The Soviet people were starving, but they providing help for Poland and sent food there, as he added.
“This is our history, it cannot be erased,” stressed the Chairman of the State Duma.
“The statement by the President of Poland rehabilitates fascism, insults the memory of our grandfathers and great-grandfathers who gave their lives for the freedom and independence of the people of Poland,” emphasized Vyacheslav Volodin and added that according to Russian law such statements could be a subject to criminal punishment.
“It would be right if the supervisory authorities investigated the statement of Andrzej Duda and took appropriate measures to bring him to criminal responsibility,” concluded the Chairman of the State Duma.
