Meeting of the Commission on Investigation into the Facts of Foreign Interference in Russia’s Internal Affairs was held at the State Duma. The meeting participants discussed the topic “Threats and risks of foreign interference in the election that will be held on 11 September 2022”. They paid special attention to the information which proved the fact that the Western states had started the campaign aimed at discrediting the electoral system in the Russian Federation.

“We see the subversive activities of media outlets and organizations against Russia, including already known projects and newly created ones,” said the Chairman of the Commission Vasily Piskarev Piskarev Vasily Ivanovich Piskarev

He noted the fact that interference in the electoral process in Russia, dissemination of fake information about elections, promotion of candidates supported by West, according to experts, are being coordinated and funded by the administrative centers from the USA, the UK, Germany, Sweden and Ukraine.

“After the start of the special military operation, the amount of funding for subversive activities against Russia has been increased several times, and the number of media projects involved, taking into account newly created ones, is almost reaching a hundred,” said Vasily Piskarev, referring to data provided by experts from the Center for the Study of New communications.

The parliamentarian added that large-scale attempts to discredit the Russian electoral system could be a sign that Western centers were also preparing for the 2024 presidential election in Russia.

“The sharp activation of anti-Russian activities and the increased interest in the elections processes in Russia, large-scale attempts to discredit our electoral system indicate the beginning of the preparation of Western centers for the presidential elections which will be held in our country in 2024,” said Vasily Piskarev.

“We see a consolidation of disorganized structures and the creation of new ones, methods of manipulative influence on voters and technologies for destabilizing the situation in the country. All these actions will definitely be addressed in accordance with the Russian legislation, including there will be used those laws that the Commission is currently developing,” the parliamentarian stressed.
