, the President of Brazil Jair Bolsonaro said that he had gladly accepted the invitation to pay a visit
to Russia for the first time.
He also mentioned the results of his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, which had been held earlier on Wednesday.
“Once again we noted many common interests between our states. We share common values, such as faith in God and family values,” said the President of Brazil.
He added that during the meeting they managed to discuss issues related to defense, agriculture, fertilizers, oil and gas delivery and nuclear energy. According to Jair Bolsonaro, Russia and Brazil “have a potential for greater cooperation”.
“As I told Mr. Vladimir Putin, peace is the most important value and we respect all those countries that seek peace,” said the President of Brazil.
Vyacheslav Volodin noted the constant dialogue between the heads of the two states, developing economic cooperation between Russia and Brazil, and added that trade turnover had grown by 87% over the past year.
“That means that parliamentarians should work more actively, as legislative decisions should be adopted on the basis of the agreements reached by the Presidents,” said Vyacheslav Volodin.
Development of inter-parliamentary cooperation
Vyacheslav Volodin thanked Jair Bolsonaro for coming to the State Duma to discuss issues of development of relations between Russia and Brazil at the inter-parliamentary level, despite the fact it was a difficult and stressful day for him.
“I would like to take this opportunity to invite my colleagues, members of the Parliament of Brazil, to take part in the International Forum “Development of Parliamentarism”, which will be held in July 2022 in Moscow,” said Vyacheslav Volodin.
The Chairman of the State Duma also stressed that the visit of the President of Brazil would help to develop cooperation between the parliaments of the two states more effectively.
“The very fact of holding the meeting at the State Duma shows that we need to develop cooperation at the inter-parliamentary level more actively,” said Vyacheslav Volodin.
“And definitely we need to understand each other better. And this can only be done with a help of dialogue. There is no trust without dialogue, and there is no development without trust,” added the Chairman of the State Duma.
The President of Brazil expressed his confidence that there would be a new impetus to the development of relations between Moscow and Rio de Janeiro.
