Vyacheslav Volodin commented on the response of the Russian Foreign Ministry to Germany’s ban on RT DE
Chairman of the State Duma said that members of the State Duma fully supported such measures: “We believe that the measures could be even tougher”
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation announced measures against the German media outlet Deutsche Welle, including, ban on broadcasting on the territory of the Russian Federation, possible recognition as a foreign agent, revocation of accreditations of all Deutsche Welle employees. That was a response to the recent ban of Germany's media regulator on RT DE broadcasting in Germany.
“Such outrage of representatives of the German government and the public figures at the Deutsche
Welle ban in our country looks strange. That were just the same measures as you
had already taken against RT DE or not?” wrote the Chairman of the State Duma

He stressed that the German government and the public figures did not follow the principles that they talked about.
“By violating principles of freedom of speech, freedom of dissemination of information, in fact, that is equal to censorship, you act against basic democratic values. That is a ghastly blot on your reputation,” emphasized Vyacheslav Volodin.
He stressed that those people who tried to take such actions against our country should understand that it was time to stop taking such decisions.
“Only mutual respect and absence of double standards can help you to build a dialogue with Russia,” emphasized Vyacheslav Volodin.
“In conclusion, those measures taken by our Ministry of Foreign Affairs are fully supported by the members of the State Duma. Moreover, we believe that the measures could be even tougher. We will not leave unfriendly actions against our country without a response,” concluded the Chairman of the State Duma.
