The Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation of the eighth convocation. Elected in single mandate constituency № 163 (Saratov constituency - Saratov Oblast)
said the migration crisis on the border between Belarus and Poland was the result of the US international expansion, in particular, its activities in Afghanistan.
“Not a single state has benefited from the US international expansion. The US authorities wanted to build democracy on their own model, to impose their own standards. Today the citizens of Libya, Iraq and Syria are forced to seek asylum in other countries. As a result, there is a migration crisis on the border of Belarus and Poland, where several thousand refugees are trying to get into the European Union,” said Vyacheslav Volodin the CSTO PA meeting.
He added that the refugees were promised a quiet life and higher allowances, but instead there were water cannons, tear gas, weapons used against them, and “they trample upon democratic principles and humanist values.”
He also condemned the actions of the Polish authorities. According to him, they “take the measures used in World War II against civilians.”
“There are no statements condemning such radical actions. How can such situation be called if not the use of double standards?” said Vyacheslav Volodin.
“It would be right to appeal to European parliaments and parliamentary organizations with an appeal to develop unified standards to overcome migration crises,” he suggested.
According to the Chairman of the State Duma, it is necessary to discuss unified standards, as the issue of migration crises becomes relevant for more and more countries. He said that some countries expressed support, while other countries continued to condemn. “We do not support such approach, therefore we are convinced that it would be right to develop unified standards,” stressed Vyacheslav Volodin.
He noted the fact that Belarus helped refugees, while the European Union, that had created such situation, did not help Minsk.
“Belarus is a CSTO member state, our strategic partner, therefore, colleagues, in such situation we must take a unified stand and support the republic, which has faced the consequences of the US disastrous international policy in the Middle East,” said Vyacheslav Volodin.
“I propose to ask the CSTO PA Secretariat to prepare and agree on a relevant statement,” he concluded.
