“It is encouraging to note
that the meetings held last year and today’s videoconference just proved that we have
similar positions on many issues, including countering terrorism, extremism,
cybercrime and drug trafficking. We also share the views on issues of sovereignty
protection of our countries, we take zero-tolerance stance with regard to terrorists
and drug dealers and we call for bringing them to justice wherever they are,” said
Chairman of the Committee on Security and Corruption Control Vasilii Piskarev

He added that meeting participants reached to continue exchanging experience related to lawmaking and law enforcement activities on a wide range of issues, including countering cyberterrorism, extremism, corruption, transnational organized crime, and that will help to enhance cooperation not only between legislators, but also between law enforcement agencies.
“Both we and our Chinese colleagues noted inadmissibility of interference in the internal affairs of sovereign states by other states and imposition of sanctions, as that contradicts international law and norms of the UN Charter,” he said.
Vasilii Piskarev informed Chinese colleagues about the results of the Commission's work. He said that the Commission had revealed “similar technologies used in Moscow and Hong Kong during illegal protest actions.”
In particular, there were a lot of provocations against police officers to detain protestors and that was filmed on cameras, there were also a lot of staged photos, that were used later by Western media to make people believe that those protest actions were peaceful and security forces were unjustifiably cruel. “Such a cynicism of those manipulators who used the same techniques in Moscow and Hong Kong, they also involved children, persons with disabilities, and pregnant women just to elicit sympathy for the protesters,” stressed the parliamentarian.
The Chairman of the Committee said that the meeting participants discussed the possibility of exchanging experience related to legislative activities on countering involvement of minors in criminal activities on the Internet, on banning Internet resources promoting drug use.
“Minors, as the most vulnerable citizens, currently need special protection. There is a massive campaign on the Internet when young are incited to use drugs or to commit suicide,” stressed Vasilii Piskarev.
The meeting was held at the initiative of the Chinese side. Deputy Chief of the National Central Bureau of Interpol of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs Sergey Borodin and senior prosecutor of the Department for Supervision of the Implementation of Laws on Federal Security, Interethnic Relations, Countering Extremism and Terrorism of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation Halimjan Kasimov took part in the meeting.
Members of the State Duma Committee on Security and Corruption Control continue to cooperate with their Chinese colleagues. Members of the Committee paid a visit to Beijing just over a year ago. In addition, the sixth meeting of the Inter-parliamentary Commission on Cooperation between Russia and China was held in November 2020.
