“Today, my colleagues and I have visited about 50 polling stations, and on the eve of the elections, the CSTO PA observers visited the election campaign offices of all presidential candidates in Kazakhstan, met with the leadership of the Central Election Commission, and did not find any serious complaints or comments”, — Sergei Neverov noted, who visited, in particular, polling stations № 112 (located on the territory of KazMunayGas), № 115 (located on the territory of Astana Opera Theatre, where one of the presidential candidates Kassym-Jomart Tokayev voted) and № 121 (at Nazarbayev University) in the capital of Kazakhstan, Nur Sultan.
Sergei Neverov provided examples of comments that were received at the polling stations: some people noted that the ballot boxes were sealed, but not tagged, but this does not violate the laws of Kazakhstan, as the ballot boxes can be either sealed or tagged. “And there was a remark that two people had entered the voting booth at the same time,” he said.
The mission of observers of the CSTO PA at the election of the President of Kazakhstan includes 17 representatives of the national parliaments of Russia, Belarus, Armenia and Tajikistan. According to Sergei Neverov, in total, more than 1000 international observers from various organizations are working in the country.
“I would like to note the highest level of organization of voting process for disabled people: we saw specialized voting booths for people with hearing and vision disorders at all polling stations. This is very important because it allows all citizens of Kazakhstan to express their will. In this regard, accessibility requirements are at a very good level,” the parliamentarian emphasized. He added that a report of a group of international observers of the CSTO PA will be prepared at the end of the voting day.
