“The fuss boosted by the Western media about Russian hackers and Russia's interference in US elections did not affect the results of the voting on the Russian resolution at the UN General Assembly,” said Vasilii Piskarev Piskarev Vasily Ivanovich Piskarev

119 countries voted for a creation of a working group on countering cybercrime proposed by Russia in New York on December 5.

“It was our country that proposed developing and adopting rules of responsible behavior in the digital sphere at the UN level, and now the ad hoc working group will meet in June next year for its first session to discuss this and other cybersecurity issues,” the parliamentarian stressed.

Vasilii Piskarev noted that the United States, Great Britain, and Ukraine, from whose territory massive information attacks are regularly organized against Russia were among the countries that voted against the resolution proposed by Russia.

“It is indicative that the Russian position, aimed not at confrontation and unleashing information wars, but at uniting international efforts in countering cyberterrorism and cybercrime has received support at the UN,” said the Chairman of the Committee on Security and Corruption Control.

According to him, “the proposals of the Russian Federation on cooperation in the field of information security, the exchange of information on cyber threats, the convergence of legislation adopted in various states, previously found support at the level of the BRICS, SCO and CSTO member states. “Now it will be possible to develop such cooperation on a larger scale,” added Vasilii Piskarev.

At the start of next year, the Committee on Security and Corruption Control will organize an international conference on cybersecurity with the participation of parliamentarians from Turkey, Iran, China and other countries in Moscow.
