It is expected that the Syrian delegation will work in Moscow for three days. A number of meetings with representatives of the executive authorities of the regions of the Russian Federation are planned.
“Reception with the participation of the families of our soldiers who died in Syria is scheduled for tomorrow. I want to note that the People’s Council adopted a decision to immortalize the deeds of Russian soldiers and officers who died in Syria,” said the Deputy Chairman of the State Duma.
Since the last meeting within parliamentary groups, held in Moscow on November 14, 2017, the Syrian delegation has expanded. “For us, this serves as an indicator of the mutual interest of the Russian and Syrian sides in the development of contacts between the legislative bodies of our countries, as an integral part of the Russian-Syrian partnership,” said the parliamentarian.
He noted that as a result of the work of the inter-parliamentary group, in Syria the Russian language will be taught at school starting with the first year of studying.
Russia's position on the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Syria remains firm and unchanged, said the Deputy Chairman of the State Duma.
”The Russian forces that remain in the country will continue to support the Syrian troops in the final destruction of terrorists on Syrian soil,“ said the parliamentarian.
In his opinion, the agreements that were reached during the last contacts of the Presidents of Russia and Syria are of paramount importance. “And their implementation is under constant control of the head of the Russian state,” Sergei Neverov assured.
He also reminded that on September 10, 2017, the 10th session of the Permanent Russian-Syrian Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation was held in Sochi, within which a wide range of issues was considered.
“Our relevant departments continue to work on the development of road maps appropriate to their profile,” said Sergei Neverov.
In his turn, the head of the Syrian delegation, the head of the parliamentary group on relations with the Russian parliament, expressed his gratitude ”for the efforts that Russia is making to take part in the restoration of Syria“.
